As you may, or may not, have read in my daily picture post yesterday, besides photography and playing the drums, I really enjoy building drums. So far I've only had the opportunity to build 2 different snare drums, but I'm hoping to build plenty more as time goes by. Below are some shots that I took of the 2 drums I've built so far. The black and white one was actually build for someone else so I thought I would get some shots of it before he came to pick it up. Of course, I didn't just take these pictures to show off my drum-making skills, I also needed a chance to try out my new Canon 50mm F1.8 lens. It's the smallest and most affordable lens that Canon offers, but it's also been called the best lens in it's class for quite some time. I really had alot of fun shooting with it and I can't wait to try it out on real-life subjects. Enjoy!
These first shots are of the snare I built back in February. Of course, I may be a little biased, but it's still the best sounding snare I've ever played!
Next, are a couple of pictures of the new snare drum that I just finished building. This snare was primarily designed by Ryan Wood, a drummer in Portales, NM, and built by yours truly.
And finally, here are some shots similar to yesterday's Daily Picture showing both snare drums together:
